# neutronstars ## Posts - [Kick-off meeting in Helsinki](https://neutronstars.fi/kick-off-meeting-in-helsinki/): The kick-off meeting of the Centre of Excellence in Neutron-Star Physics took place from the 31st of March to the 2nd of April at the Kumpula campus of the University of Helsinki. - [High-Performance Computing in Sciences](https://neutronstars.fi/hpc-seminar/): This seminar series will focus on computing, numerics, software development, and their applications across scientific disciplines. Our goal is to invite leading experts from both academia and industry to give talks a few times each semester. Seminars are live streamed through Zoom. Next seminar “Roihu, CSC’s new flagship national supercomputer” by Dr. Yann Pfau-Kempf from CSC Friday, April 24 at 13:15-14, 2026E204, Physicum, Gustaf Hällströmin katu 2, Helsinki Our speaker is Dr. Yann Pfau-Kempf, a former University researcher in space physics, is now an HPC specialist at CSC – IT Center for Science, Ltd. Roihu, CSC’s new flagship national supercomputer, is […] - [Physics of Neutron Stars](https://neutronstars.fi/physics-of-neutron-stars/): Neutron stars (NSs) and their surroundings constitute one of the most extreme environments in the present-day Universe. ## Pages - [Publications](https://neutronstars.fi/publications/): Publications NEUTRONSTARS CoE started operating in 2026. Since the starting date, … papers have been published. - [Research](https://neutronstars.fi/research/): Research groups Center of Excellence in Neutron-Star Physics involves five different research groups studying neutron stars from all perspectives. Nuclear Astrophysics – Anu Kankainen The research group led by PI Anu Kankainen focuses on experimental studies of exotic nuclei and their properties. With novel production and ion trapping techniques, we can determine atomic masses of nuclides extremely precisely and determine their nuclear binding energies. So far, we have determined atomic masses for more than 400 nuclides, including more than 70 long-lived excited nuclear states known as isomers. This makes our team as one of the world-leading research groups in such mass measurements. […] - [Jobs](https://neutronstars.fi/jobs/): Jobs At the moment we are not hiring any more people. We plan to open several positions ranging from PhD-level to postdoc to senior researchers in the CoE. When we open more positions, you will be able to find the job listings below. Filled positions are also listed below. Filled positions University of Helsinki University of Jyväskylä University of Turku - [Blog](https://neutronstars.fi/blog/) - [Homepage](https://neutronstars.fi/): About us Welcome to NEUTRONSTARS (2026-2033), the first astrophysics-themed Centre of Excellence of the Research Council of Finland! The centre is comprised of five independent research groups, operating at the physics departments of the Universities of Helsinki, Jyväskylä, and Turku. These pages – that are still under development – will contain topical information of the centre and its activities, including recent research outputs, job openings, and various events organized by us. We also host a curated list of facts about neutron stars for the general public and experts. Centre of Excellence Program The Finnish Centres of Excellences operate at the very cutting edge of science in their fields, carving out new […] ## Optional - [Agent (MCP protocol)](websites-agents.hostinger.com/neutronstars.fi/mcp) [comment]: # (Generated by Hostinger Tools Plugin)
